COMPARISON; A THIEF OF JOY EP. 5

"... please I'm going to the department of anatomy". I and Segun looked at ourselves and laughed. "That's where we're headed also even though we don't know where it is as well. You can join us if you want to". She looked confused but a bit relieved and said she'd join us, letting out a smile. "Why were you frustrated?"  I asked her, then she told us how people have been tossing her around since she entered the school compound that day and that she met us when she had lost all hopes. We laughed at her and I said sorry. "My name is Lanre and this is Segun. What's your name?" oh my bad, "my  name is Omobolanle Arishekola, and I got in day before yesterday, settled in fully yesterday and trying to clear myself in today, everything, all shades of stress, it's not been funny actually but here I am keeping my cool", she laughed.

Amidst the gist, Segun looked up and shouted "Thank You Jesus", Omobolanle and I looked up out of curiousity and we jubilated too. We entered the department, finished clearance and headed home. Since then, we go to almost everywhere together, pay school fees or any other related fees together, sit in class together, in fact, none of us misses class without the knowledge of the others, we tell each other everything and pray together over anything, that most times we don't even miss home.

So, this day was one of those days and I was the one at the center of attraction. I told them everything that happened, how I met Shalewa, fell in love with her and the new discovery. Silence engulfed the atmosphere, nobody knew what to say or what to do with who. We just said a really short prayer and went back to class for the next lecture.

The day was a really long one, I just got home, dropped my bag and laid on the bed thinking about everything that transpired in class today, My mummy's call brought me back to reality. "Hello Olanrewaju oko mi, bawo ni?(Olanrewaju, my husband, how are you?)", my mother from the other end screamed after picking up her call. "Ah maami, daada ni mo wa (Ah mummy, I'm doing fine.)", she asked about everything that was ask-able and got answers to the answerable. I asked after my dad and sister and she said everyone was doing fine. I asked her about how dad was fairing and she said he was doing just fine and he wasn't even around. We spoke at length and ended the call with, "Olanrewaju oko mi, ranti omo eni ti iwo n se o (Olanrewaju my darling, remember the son of whom you are o), don't go around living like you own and know everything. Always remember the son of whom you are, se o ti gbo mi? (have you heard me?), "Yes ma, I answered", "A da fun e oko mi", she continued, "won  o ni ru oku e wa'le fun mi, Olorun a wa pelu e. (it shall be well with you my darling, they won't bring your corpse home to me in Jesus name), oju k'oju o ni ri e, owo k,owo o ni kan e (no evil eyes will behold you, no evil hands will touch you)", Amin ma, I answered. And then, the call came to an end and I sighed and smiled because I would never get enough of my mum as she does that every time she calls.

I Dropped my phone to continue to relax but a call came in.

Guess who?
