COMPARISON; A THIEF OF JOY EP. 6

I dropped my phone to continue relaxing but a call came in. It was Bolanle. "Hello Segun, have you heard?" "That what?" I replied, "PSY102 exam result is out and guess the highest score and who in our class?"  I was still trying to put the information together when she screamed "it's you my friend" into my ears through the phone. "Hello everybody", Mr Babawale said as he entered our class for the first time last semester. "Hello sir", the class responded. Let's start by introducing ourselves, everyone in class did as they were told and he ended the introduction with "welcome to a new semester, this is PSY102 and I'd be your lecturer". We were still racking our brains as to what Psy102 is when he wrote "Introduction To Psychology" on the board, and said "pick up your note and pen", then he started to give us notes. Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behavior. It seeks to...

"... please I'm going to the department of anatomy". I and Segun looked at ourselves and laughed. "That's where we're headed also even though we don't know where it is as well. You can join us if you want to". She looked confused but a bit relieved and said she'd join us, letting out a smile. "Why were you frustrated?"  I asked her, then she told us how people have been tossing her around since she entered the school compound that day and that she met us when she had lost all hopes. We laughed at her and I said sorry. "My name is Lanre and this is Segun. What's your name?" oh my bad, "my  name is Omobolanle Arishekola, and I got in day before yesterday, settled in fully yesterday and trying to clear myself in today, everything, all shades of stress, it's not been funny actually but here I am keeping my cool", she laughed.  Amidst the gist, Segun looked up and shouted "Thank You Jesus", Omobolanle an...

"Oh My God!" was the word that escaped my mouth. Yes, if you guessed, you got it right. It was Shalewa, yes, that one I met yesterday. She was the lecturer we were waiting for. I screamed and 'scromed' inside of me, guy, my soul left my body for a while. It took the voices of my friends to get myself together. I looked up and greeted Segun and Omobolanle, they noticed the shock on my face and asked what was wrong with me and that they've been waiting and calling out for me since what looked like forever. I shook myself off and told them I would gist them later. "Good Morning everyone, trust you all are doing great?" she started with. "Welcome to a new calendar semester, my name is Aderoti Omoshalewa and I will be your lecturer for PHS 201. So let's start by me knowing your names, starting from my left hand side". The first lady on the row started with her name, and it went on and on until she got to my row and my table. My soul left my body...

COMPARISON; A THIEF OF JOY EP. 3

Everything went well while I was at home, I felt peace because my parents didn't feel pressured with what happened, I must say that their ability to handle situations is top notch because what is this awesomeness?. The family went smoothly and about their days while I was at home.  Three weeks later, school resumed and I  went back to school. Got into my room, muttered some thanksgiving words, poured out the food I brought from home into their appropriate places, cleaned up, rearranged the room, ate and slept. I didn't open my eyes a bit till the next day. I got up, prayed and stayed in the room to sort out books and write out things that would be needed for this new level, as I was to send them home for funds. After a few hours, I got bored and decided to take a stroll to the school premises as my house wasn't far from school. When I got to the school, I decided to stroll towards the next nearest garden after the one at the school entrance, it's my favorite spot. Stepp...

COMPARISON; A THIEF OF JOY EP.2

When I got home, the unexpected had already happened but they couldn't tell me because they were trying to protect my mental health and help me concentrate on my exams. On arrival, I met everyone well, and I was welcomed with my favorite food, pounded yam and efo riro as usual, I was elated as I ate my food and when the day finally folded up, I got a knock on my door, it was my mum, and she asked if I was up for a conversation. I didn't tell you that my parents don't attempt a conversation when I'm not interested, they know when my mind is settled and ready is when they should talk to me and that is one of my favorite things about them. So I told her that I was free at the moment and the conversation began. "Olanrewaju, oko mi, how are you?, I knew something serious was about to be said but I couldn't place my hands on it prior to that time because the mummy that I know rarely starts conversation this way, but I played along. So I replied, "Apart from scho...

COMPARISON; A THIEF OF JOY EP.1

I tried so much to be happy but NO, I found myself looking up to the one who wasn't even working as hard as I worked. My name is Olanrewaju Olaosebikan, I am on my way to 30 and I am with nothing to show for it, why? I am going to share my story with you, I hope you learn and make use of a few points. I was born into the family of 4, my parent, Mr. and Mrs. Olaosebikan, my sister, Abisinuola and Me, we were living fine but on the average. We were provided for by our parents and we lived our lives the best way we could. The love shown by our parents was second to none, I just wished I had made a better use of it in my early 20's. My dad worked with one of the best banks in Nigeria as the branch manager and my mom, a full housewife that was wise enough to pester her husband into setting up a small business for her. I must say my mum is a really wise and hardworking woman because how in the space of 3 years will a woman do so much for herself and family? She expanded the business ...

MY FRIENDS AND I.......... FINAL EPISODE

THE GOOD ONES THAT ARE SLIES TOO (FINAL PART) THE FRIENDS YOU'RE CLOSE TO TODAY WILL DRIFT AWAY FROM YOU TOMORROW. THEY DON'T HAVE TO BE ON YOUR BAD SIDE, IT'S JUST HOW LIFE IS WIRED. She stopped to look at my reaction, Adetoro, are you okay??? I looked at her and all I did was cry, because I found it very hard to believe, I thought about what exactly I did to deserve that, but nothing reasonable came. As if Sis. Dee read my mind, she asked if I've ever offended Shade to deserve this type of punishment, all I did was nod my head in the negative way and cried even more. Agnes took my phone and called my mum but I didn't know what exactly they spoke about, all I knew I heard my mum said was "Omo Akin ni e, Omo Akin o de kin se ojoo (meaning you're the child of a brave human, and the child of a brave human does not act like a coward)". When we were about to leave sis. dee's house, I was told to act normal like nothing happened, I asked if that was pos...
